Portland Assembly on Free Trade and Job Loss

PCASC joins labor to protest Wyden support for "free" trade

Free trade agreements like NAFTA have cost thousands of people in the Portland metro area their jobs. If things continue on their current course, many additional area residents will see their jobs shipped abroad. There is a growing recognition in Congress that free trade agreements have hurt our communities, and many elected officials are now taking a stand against the free trade agenda. Still, many Members of Congress in the Pacific Northwest remain undecided on this important issue. Join other Portland-area residents to discuss the negative impacts that free trade agreements have had on our communities in terms of plant closures, job loss, school funding and more -- and learn about what people in our region can do to prevent these harmful trade policies from expanding.

This event will include testimony from displaced workers from a range of industries whose jobs have been shipped abroad. If you would like to share your story at this community forum, please contact the Oregon Fair Trade Campaign at (503) 736-9777 or orftc@citizenstrade.org.
